Currently reading "Murder City, Juarez..." by Charles Bowden, this takes me back to a lot of the research I had done before. With Hilary Clinton recently stating Juarez to be "just like Colombia 20 something years ago", drug trafficking is another major concern for the U.S. Laura Ling, a Vanguard correspondent, traveled to Juarez and documented the many murders to occur in only one day. The murder city of Juarez is known for the heart of the Narco-war and killings about almost every hour. Seems like in this city, everyone likes to play God, and take away the life of anyone without feeling grief. This gruesome scene seems to have more gore in it now than ever before.
People in Juarez are killed for one reason, drugs. There are innocent people dying, many women being raped, just because they do not know who to trust. So many murders go unannounced just because the citizens are afraid. No news report is ever true anymore, just because reporters get killed for telling the truth. Imagine yourself not being able to dial 911 because that cop could be the bad guy. So they stand alone, or with their family, trying to survive in the city of death. This is all because of you, the American Citizen consuming up the drugs that they provide. So here's to you, a documentary that has changed my perspective on marijuana and the rest of the narcotics. Next time you light up that blunt, think of all the blood that was shed just for the little high.
